Description
Installing windows suction cups Equipment
Vacuum lifters are simply suction cups that attach to a pane of glass to securely lift it into place. They are often used in a stick built system where the pane of glass is unattached to mullions prior to installation. By attaching to the center of the glass using suction, the vacuum lifter helps prevent damage to the edges of the glass where it is most vulnerable to chipping and cracking. This allows workers to carefully maneuver the glass into place with a decreased risk of the piece breaking and needing to be replaced.
Vacuum lifters come in a range of sizes and types. There are single suction cups intended as a hand hold that allow workers to work a large pane of glass into place by hand. There are also large, multi-suction cup devices that attach to a crane or hoist, allowing the piece of glass to be lifted large distance and maneuvered to their location. These devices allow glass panes to be safely and carefully lifted into place within the curtain wall system without causing damage to the panel.
